The project is the result of research that has been conducted for my B.A. in English Language and Literary Studies.
The Project for the New American Century was a Washington ‘think-tank’ established in 1997. They proposed supreme military dominance in order to maintain America’s position as the only global superpower. We have subsequently seen the effect of their proposals in the alleged ‘War on Terror’ and the illegal invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.
The investigation concentrates on the group’s most infamous document called ‘Rebuilding America’s Defences‘ and the response it received on the internet. This is approached from the perspective of critical linguistics combined with social and cultural theory.
