“Tony Blair took us to war on Iraq to find weapons of mass destruction. There were none. 655,000 Iraqis have died in that illegal war and occupation. Now our government wants to spend up to £76 billion on new nuclear weapons - a ‘defence’ policy based on the indiscriminate killing of millions.

CND and the Stop the War Coalition have called a national demonstration on 24 February to say no to these insane policies of death and destruction.”

End of Dollar Hegemony - the Honest Republican?

Ron Paul is a Republican senator from Texas, but don’t let that put you off. This is an incredible speech that is actually true - no mock fabrications, just the inevitable truth that the Empire is crumbling. The United States once balanced its economy using gold and after WWII it became incredibly wealthy after plundering Europe in exchange for aid. It now balances its economy using oil - the petrodollar. They rely on the oil market to drive their economy and maintain global economic control. That’s why when Saddam wanted to sell his oil in Euros, the Americans invaded. The problem is that, as a nation, they live far beyond their means and this high rate of consumption (fuel, food, materials etc.) is unsustainable because their economy is reliant on diminishing oil reserves. Just like Rome, there’s the danger that the entire system could just collapse in on itself.
